When we graduate from college or university, a special function is held to mark the event. At the function, the degree is handed out to us with great honour and respect. This is done as to mark a major milestone in our lives. More so, through this gesture, the college acknowledges that we had set out to seek and that it places great value on the degree.
However, when we set out in the real world, we discover that jobs are hard to get by. Most employers, while recognizing the value of our qualification, require a certain level of experience from us in order to benefit from our service. Somehow we do get employers, and after a few years of experience, we find our value is increasing in the job market. In fact, after some years of experience our value is preliminarily based on our years of experience, and our degree becomes less relevant.
Similarly, when we obtain the Sat guru’s Gyan (God –knowledge) in the Nirankari mission, it’s a major milestone. The knowledge we attain is of immense value in guiding us through the right path in our values. However, if we confine this knowledge within the confines of our minds, and only to the theoretical exchange of verbal and written discourses, we are not going to benefit fully, we have to translate this gift into real life experience.
In our relationship with others, whether they are devotee or not, there should be real love, brotherliness, a sense of humanity, then we can cherish the real fruit of this knowledge. In our dealings in worldly matters, we have to be free of attachment of possessiveness and greed. Then only can we gain the true value of this Gyan. We have to replace ego, hatred and anger in our character with humility, tolerance and compassion. Then only we should have applied this knowledge to our daily life.
We can sincerely say that we have succeeded in understanding the Gyan only when we are recognized as Nirankari, not by our qualifications or titles, but by our practical life; not by our spoken words, but by our actions.

A stream always has two banks; there is no stream with one bank. What matters most is not the banks but the kind of water that flows in between them. Is it filthy water or the stream contains neat and clean water? In case the water in the stream is dirty and polluted, giving foul smell, nobody would like to go near it, but if the water is clean and clear, it is useful for various purposes. Likewise, birth and death are two vital edges of life. The one who is born must die on the appointed day. But here also matters most is not the kind of birth or death one may find, but the kind of life one leads. We go by the fact whether the journey of life was pleasant, giving comfort and solace to others or it was full of ego, sin and suffering, giving pain and misery to others. The former is the ideal life, which the saints live, and the latter is the cursed life of the wayward perverts.

YOUR QUESTION AND YOUR ANSWER
DUTIES OF YOUTH:
The young generation today is undoubtedly enjoying far greater physical comforts in comparison to their forefathers. This is chiefly due to the great advancement in science and technology. They are surrounded by a plethora of amenities. The micro-chip has facilitated the fulfillment of every whim of theirs arising any moment or anywhere. But the youth of today faces graver crisis and is loaded with greater responsibilities than were their earlier counterparts. Some of the prime duties of the youth today can be enlisted as given below:
· The young men and women today are required to be extra watchful and strong enough not to fall prey to the countless temptations confronting them at every footstep.
· In the present disjointed times they are to look backwards and forwards so as to link the rich past to the present and assure a healthy future.
· They cannot allow themselves to be cowed down by the difficulties and must come out with a new vigor after bearing them bravely.
· They must not shun the worldly joys, rather should enjoy them as gifts of the Lord.
· The youth of all age group - school, college, and university - mustn’t develop the bad habit of rising late in the morning on week days, even on Sundays.
· They should strictly believe in – CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS – and must never defile our mother earth or environment.
· The most important duty of the youth is exhibit Nirankar in their thoughts and actions.
“Rev.Prof.S.P.JIndal Ji”
Young people are known as wealth of any nation. They are that mirror through which a country can see it progress. But these days some youngsters think that this is the age in which they want to be free birds and enjoy different colours of life. Sometimes this excess freedom leads them to wrong direction. So, as far as I think in this era of competitions’ longer these youngsters are free but the progress of their motherland is only on their shoulders. Young can do a lot for rooting out many prevailing evils in the society that has spread their tentacles from top to bottom. These are, increasing number of old age homes, female feticide, drug addiction other population, poverty and many more if the root of these epidemics is our mind than their solution also lies only in mind, so for this they have to change their lining standard as well as way of thinking .
For instance, youngsters need to think that why old people homes are increasing incessantly? According to me, they have become more selfish. A parent who can give his whole life to keep a smile on the face his offspring forever who gives up all his comforts, dreams for razing his 4 or 5 children, that 4 or 5 children cant raise look after a single parent when these old mother and father need them most these some children throw them in the darkness, in the loneliness of old age homes. Now this youth has to think and also they have to realize that nothing is more important / valuable that this priceless gift of God in the form of parents in this whole universe.
Secondly, many youngsters who believe extravagant type of life style they should realize that this is also responsible for these existing ills. As they spend more money than they will be unable to fulfill the needs of needy people they should believe in simple living and high thinking. For this they can save money and can help at least one child in his or her studies, who belongs to poor family the female feticide which is leading the female species or endangered species to the extinction what young people are just discussing it but doing nothing to let up this crime. It is the duty young people to convince this society that girls are no longer, a burden on the family. As it is mainly happening in poor and uneducated families so first, they should do something that will decrease the poverty and illiteracy, and these parents will know the importance of girl child. For this they should spend / use their free lime in making some organizations or commit the members of that will plan to educate one family per year and help them in making employed.
Similarly, young people should realize or make them others realize that is life is valuable it should not be spoiled in taking drugs , those who have sunken in this evil others should try to put them or right track by helping them in joining some centers which help these addicts to rid it off this habit. Also they can help them by our selling or.
So in a nut-shell I would like to say that youngsters will be able to call as wealth of and nation only if in reality they are doing something for their country and for this first they have to sacrifice their time, money, lavish eye styles.

Every computer has a definite speed. What is the speed of the computer sitting on our head, namely our brain?
It is natural to surmise that our brain is little bit like a computer. We are not sure that the analogy is perfect. First of all, let me say that the speed of our brain is orders of magnitude slower than that of a modern computer. But we have a large number of processors that more than compensate for this slowness. One of the consequences is that we have “consciousness” that computer does not – we perhaps do not want computer that would be conscious and free. In the opening system of our brain we have room for values, love, pride, anger and frustration.
These would be considered dangerous quirks in most computer systems. It is possible most of these human qualities are a result of immense parallelism. Parallelism certainly compensated for lack of speed, but it might have also made us human and somewhat unpredictable. If I was given a choice between extreme fastness and extreme parallelism I would still choose the latter. Not surprising, because I confess to being partial towards the way we have been designed.
Readers wanting to ask Prof. Yash Pal a question can email him at palyash.pal@gmail.com
We say that the universe is expanding, but what is it expanding into? Is there any place where it is expanding?
When we talk of the Universe it is assumed that this also includes the space associated with it. Space-time is an entity that was also created at the time of creation of the Universe. This seems strange, but it seems impossible to think of space that lies outside the Universe. Therefore, the strange but true answer to your question would be to say that it is expanding into space that it is creating during this expansion. We do not give such privilege to our suitcase when we have to fit in lot to a foreign country. If our suitcase were a universe, things would be simple.
COVER STORY: Gurdaas Maan
Gurdas Maan was born in a Maan family in Gidderbaha Muktsar, Punjab (India). Gurdas Maan was formally educated in Malout. After completing his education there, his parents enrolled him into a further education institute in Patiala. As a keen sports enthusiast Gurdas was fascinated by the National Institute of Sports in the city, this prompted him to join the N.I.S and gain a Masters Degree in Physical Education.
This is the man who started singing as a hobby and never thought he was good enough to become a professional singer until he started winning competitions at college. Since then he has exerted some kind of tidal pull over his audiences. He is one of those rare individuals who hypnotizes you with his persona and his power of speech.
He took part in youth festivals organized by various universities and won several awards for his singing and acting, always supported by his friends. He competed in many athletic events and won medals including a bronze at the National Championship as well as achieving a black belt in judo.
In one of his stage plays he performed a song which he had written himself called Dil Da Mamla Hai. The play was seen by a producer of a Jalandhar TV station, the producer who thought the song to have potential approached Gurdas with a proposition for a TV performance of the song to which Gurdas agreed. When the song was aired on December 31, 1980 it gained national attention and Gurdas Maan became a national figure. The overwhelming success of the song attracted the attention of HMV who wanted to record and release the song. It was with HMV that Gurdas eventually released his debut album with a year later in 1981. When Gurdas began his career as a solo performer in India, the music industry was dominated by duet artists and Gurdas reportedly declined many offers to become part of a duet as he wished to perform and become a successful solo artist, since his debut Gurdas has always performed as a solo artist.
During his early career he also wrote and directed TV programs such as POP Time for the DoorDarshan Network in Delhi.
Gurdas Maan is best known as an actor for his remarkable performances in two films: Waris Shah: Ishq da Waris (2006), which was nominated as India’s selection for the Academy Awards, and Shaheed-E-Mohabbet (1999), the film which tells the real-life story of Boota Singh.Aside from singing in Punjabi, he is fluent in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Haryanvi and Rajasthani. As an actor he has performed in Punjabi, Hindi and Tamil movies, but as aforementioned above, he is best known for his starring role in Waris Shah - Ishq Daa Waaris, a depiction of the Punjabi poet Waris Shah’s during the creation of his epic poem Heer Ranjha, again co-starring Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta. He also made a special appearance in Veer-Zaara with Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta.
In Karnal, Haryana, India on the 20 January 2007 Gurdas was involved in a car accident in which his imported Range Rover SUV was hit and severely damaged by a truck near the town of Madhuban in Haryana. Gurdas escaped with minor injuries on his face, hands and chest. He was subsequently admitted to a Mohali hospital where he was examined by doctors who announced to the press that other than these minor injuries he was unharmed and-fully-fit.
This is the second car accident Gurdas Maan has been involved in and has escaped with minor injuries. The first accident was a head on collision between Gurdas’ vehicle and another truck on the 9 January 2001 at a village near Rupnagar, Punjab. Unfortunately, in this accident Maan’s driver was killed. Gurdas Maan later admitted that his driver asked him to wear seat-belt minutes before the accident. Gurdas Maan believes that if it wasn’t for his driver, he would have been dead as well. Later he wrote and sung a song ‘Baithi sade naal savari utter gayi’ dedicated to his driver, who was also his good-friend.
Gurdas Maan is married and has one son Gurik who has done his schooling from Yadavindra Public School, Patiala. He also studied at Eton College in Eton, Berkshire and introduced the Indian game of Kabbadi and actually taught Prince William how to play.
May this legend live a long blissful life.

Extra Knock: Right of Vote
Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance.
So either vote, or vote not to vote (Vote 49-O)
Use your voting right for a better INDIA.

CHHOTTI – CHHOTTI MAGAR JARURI BAATEIN
Yoga to Strengthen Eyes
Most of us do not exercise our eye muscles at all, but yet, we work them all the time, causing them to be under constant strain. They are easy to do, and most of them can be performed any time of the day, wherever you are.
1. Close your eyes as tight as possible, for around 5 seconds. Open them, and close them again. Do this 6 times.
2. Do you sit in front of the computer screen for hours at a time? Every half an hour, get up from in front of the screen and move around a bit. Get yourself a glass of water. Give your eyes a 2 minute break.
3. Shut your eyes and roll your eyeballs around for a minute.
4. Rub your palms together and gently cup them over your closed eyes for around a minute. This is known as palming and is very beneficial for the eyes. The eyes need darkness to rejuvenate them and this need is best served by palming. Palming should be done after every eye exercise, to relax the eyes and every now and then during the day.
5. Imagine that there is a huge clock in front of you. Look at the number 12 for around 10 seconds, and then move your gaze down to 6. Do this around 10 times, rapidly. Then, move your eyes horizontally, in the 3-9 position. Finally, move them diagonally (2-7 and 10-4).
6. Look up to the position in the middle of your eyebrows. Hold for a few seconds and then move your gaze downwards, towards your nose. This is called Sambhavi mudra.
7. Slowly, direct your gaze to the ceiling, as you inhale. Exhale, and move your gaze down in a straight line, towards the floor. Do this 6 times.
8. We blink to lubricate the eyes. But sometimes, when we are concentrating hard, we tend to blink less. Make a conscious effort to blink more.
9. Reduce the brightness on your computer. The eyes can adjust to dim light without much strain.
10. Strengthen the organ which adjusts the lens of the eye, by this exercise, and you may never need spectacles. Sit in a room by the window, and focus on a point in the distance. Hold your arm straight out in front of you, in the same direction as the point you are focusing on, with your thumb extended in a 'thumbs-up' position. Your thumb should be directly in the line of vision of the object you are focusing on in the distance. Now, keep shifting your focus from your thumb to the point in the distance. Do this around ten times, and at least once a day.
